Try
apt-get install --reinstall python
and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't, there are more drastic things you can do, but they can cripple your system.

Actually this isn't a virtual server. Reinstalling everything is not a good idea. So what should I do? Any "harmless" way to fix this stuff without loosing my files.
