Re: Is it possible to use REST API on Django template ?

Hey,

Guess you are making some baseless assumptions about the so-called templates... Can the original poster of the question please clarify what you really meant before we get more and more confused?

Ordering objects within a category

Hi All.

I'm trying to solve an annoying issue with ordering.

I have a site that displays lists of objects.  These objects also belong to categories.

The site defaults to show the objects from all the categories.  I can order these objects based on a model.  However, if I select a category, I cannot order the displayed objects within that category.

Here is the html snippet that I use to order the objects when all categories are displayed.  It works well... just not for objects in specific categories.

<!-- sort html snippet -->
<div class="iconsets-sort">Ordered by
{% if ordering == 'title' %}
<span>Title</span>
{% elif ordering == 'filename' %}
<span>Filename</span>
{% elif ordering == '-author' %}
<span>Author</span>
{% elif ordering == 'created' %}
<span>Date Created</span>
{% elif ordering == '-updated' %}
<span>Last Updated</span>
{% elif ordering == '-status' %}
<span>Status</span>
{% elif ordering == 'iteration_pending' %}
<span>Pending</span>
{% elif ordering == 'iteration_approved' %}
<span>Approved</span>
{% elif ordering == '-notes' %}
<span>Iconsets with Notes</span>
{% endif %}
<img class="sort-down-arrow-2" src="{% static 'idm/images/main-content-icons/down-arrow-2.svg' %}">
<ul>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=title"> Title</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=-author"> Author</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=filename"> Filename</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=created"> Create Date</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=-updated"> Last Updated</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=-status" > Status</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=iteration_pending"> Pending</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=iteration_approved"> Approved</a></li>
<li class="sort"><a href="?ordering=-notes"> Notes</a></li>
</ul>
</div>

I'm not sure what code needs to be shown so if anyone can help let me know and I will share what is needed.

Regards and I hope everyone is well.
-Andrew

Re: Can't create custom user model

You didn't provide any information. Suggest you want to skip login as default user name. Check USERNAME_FIELD param in NewUserModel(AbstractBaseUser). Also, use class NewUserAccountManager(BaseUserManager): with createuser and createsuperuser functions.

Check this as well: https://dev.to/joshwizzy/customizing-django-authentication-using-abstractbaseuser-llg

Guidance for Django-React

         I am currently learning Django and made many projects in it. And I have also made DRF API projects. So, now I am thinking of learning React for frontend development and will make projects with React and Django.

        Afterwards, I am also thinking of making Django Rest API of any project and making React-Native application with DRF API.

I have doubts about following things:

1-Is Django+React Stack good according to current Industry Trends?
2-Can this Stack lend me a good package job?

Hi to everybody, and thanks for reading me thing is I have time trying to learn django, I've seen online tutorials and I 've bought some online courses  and long story short I feel i still need help from you guys.. I would like if is in your possibilities do advise me,  I am coding a application on django 2, I am still on the development process and to be honest I don't have idea of how to achieve certain things that apparently are basic but for me they sound more like advanced topics...

I am going to try to explain myself,

 I would like  for the app to be able  te do the following:

To be able to create an account let say for example for a company and then to be able to assign users only for that company and  that once the user that belongs to x company can be able to see the records that belongs to that company.

I know that I have  to mark every record  of certain user so the application can be hable to retrieve the records for that user or company but I don't have the Idea  how would be the most recomendable way to do it...

If somebody can help me with some advice it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Trying to have Employees created from within rather than in a Sign Up

Hello Family.
I have adopted django Custom Model Approach as means of creating my employees but I have a shortcoming. It wouldnt make sense and be secure to have a signup url for my employees hence the It Admin will have to add users from within and hence I am struggling to come up with a code that would allow the user creation process to leave out password and then after the user addition an email is sent with an activation template which in turn gets the email recipient to create a password and then the user would be activated and the user is redirected to the employees dashboard. May someone help me on how they would tackle this problem

Thanks in Advance

sincerely
