Final Update on Project 2

Progress with my Python/Django Software Development Journey.

Project 2 (A Social Website) now complete.

Greetings to you my dear esteemed viewers who follow and like my work. I had taken off time without updating you 😂, but guess what, I have been behind the laptop fighting with code.

This Social_Website_Project has really taught me a lot of things like,

1. Shouting out for help on platforms I feared to ask questions in the past (https://forum.djangoproject.com/t/running-mysite-com-on-local-machine-for-wsl-linux-during-django-development/42555)

2. Giving up and gathering strength to go forward again 😔.

3. Tackling difficult tasks in the face of the unknown.

4. Handling task in very small fragments to realize progress.

Among very many other lifelong lesson that I will carry forward in my career.

This project can be accessed here (https://social-website-mdb2.onrender.com/) though this link will expire in a month time from (8 September, 2025) since I am hosting this website on a free account with https://render.com

It's main features include

1. Easy signing in with your Google Account.

2. Bookmarking images from the internet (Follow guidelines on the dashboard page.)

3. A user follow system (User can follow one another)

4. A like system (Users can like images)

5. Counting image views using #Redis

Among others.

I am again here to report on my progress, I have been a little slow of recent because I had some work assignments that needed due attention. But never the less I am making progress.

As I continue with Authentication, below are the key features I have added to my project.

1. Using Social Authentication with Google

2. Email-based  Authentication backend.

Have Erasmus+ scholarship and I'm looking for a 2-month internship in any EU country

Hello everyone 👋 I'm a final-year SWE student graduating in early July.

I've secured an Erasmus+ scholarship and I'm currently looking for a two-month internship opportunity where I can grow both technically and professionally.

I'm open to any tech role since I'm just starting my career, I'm eager to gain experience in anything I work on. That said, I'd love something backend-related with Django, since I really enjoy working with it. My graduation project is actually a hospital management system built with DRF and Next.js.

Right now, I'm doing a remote internship with a U.S. based company, but I want to make the most of the Erasmus+ program to expand my skills and network.

I just need a company to send me an acceptance letter and erasmus and I will take care of everything else.

I'd really appreciate any support or referrals 🙏

hotel room booking system

Dear Django Community,

I hope this message finds you well.

I'm currently exploring open-source solutions built with Django for a hotel room booking system. I'm particularly looking for a project that is active or at least maintainable  ideally supporting room availability, reservations, user management, and possibly integration with external APIs (e.g., channel managers like Booking.com or Airbnb).

If any such Django-based open-source project exists or if someone in the community has experience or recommendations in this area, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

I am happy to be here again and I am reporting on Part 2 of the Blog Project.

For Part 2 I learnt the following.
1. The tagging system.

2. Post recommendations using complex queries. 
3.. Sitemaps and RSS feed.

4. Working with custom templates and filters.

5.  Implementing advance searching techniques of using either the SearchVector or TrigramSimilarity. (Full-Text Search)
6. Dumping and loading data from SQLite to PostgreSQL. 

7. And more debugging as well.
