Re: include(admin.site.urls) mangles with the URL

this is what you had:
(r'^admin/(.*)', admin.site.root),

then you changed it to this (which is incorrect with the regex)
(r'^admin/(.*)', include(admin.site.urls)), # WRONG

this is correct:
(r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)),
