Thanks Kenneth, interesting summary. We would likely start off with WF as our needs at this point should be covered by their hosting.

low cost small site - webfaction
slightly higher cost - medium site - linode/slicehost/gandi
more pricey for bigger sites - hetzner
huge sites - amazon
