Explicitly setting 'created' date for Users when importing from Legacy database

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if there is a way to override the automatic 'creation' date for a user for an initial import of users from a legacy database, but then use normal created date settings the rest of the time. I imagine I need to override the user model, however I would only need to do this on the first import, so it seems off to modify the model for this.
