I'd like to use a UUID as my primary key in a PostgreSQL-backed Django database. As with a serial primary key, I'd like the database rather than Django to supply the initial value of the primary key; the primary key field in the DB is declared as DEFAULT uuid_generate_v4(). It *almost* works, except that Django attempts to INSERT a NULL value into that field, rather than just omitting it from the INSERT and getting the field value back. What am I missing?
